Urgent clinic boost
THE Morayfield Health Hub has taken national stage, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese visiting the Morayfield Urgent Care Clinic last week, one of the largest Urgent Care Clinics (UCC) in Australia.

Mr Albanese, along with Labor candidate for Longman, Rhiannyn Douglas, visited the clinic to promote the need and efficacy of UCC, promising to add another 50 to the existing 87 across the country, if re-elected, including one in Burpengary.
Mr Albanese said the Morayfield UCC is “already providing fast, quality care to the community and helping take pressure off local hospitals.”
“Urgent Care Clinics that have seen around Australia over 1.2 million Australians get the health care they need when they needed it, and all they’ve needed is their Medicare card,” he said.
“With another Urgent Care Clinic at Burpengary, it will make an even bigger difference, taking even more pressure off the emergency department of the local hospital.”
According to the owner of the Morayfield UCC, Evan Jones, the Morayfield clinic has already delivered services to over 18,000 patients in the first three months of this year, seeing between 90 and 120 patients per day.
“About 60 per cent of those patients tell us that if they hadn’t been seen at the UCC they would’ve presented to the Emergency Department at the public hospital, so that’s a substantial pressure taken off the hospitals,” he said.
“We’ve got such enormous growth in population occurring that it’s just a case of trying to keep up with that demand.”
Mr Jones said the Prime Minister wanted to look at the operations of the Morayfield UCC, meet with medical staff, learn more about urgent care, and explain the government’s proposal of more UCCs.
“We’ve been operating since 2017 and the community has really responded to our high-quality model of care,” he said.
“It was largely in response to community demand at the last election that there was refunding for the UCC.”
The Morayfield UCC helps patients with urgent care for things such as cuts, sprains, and infections.
