Toogoolawah pool upgrade to cost $4M
Somerset Regional Council has appointed Murphy Builders QLD Pty Ltd to complete the much-anticipated upgrade of the Toogoolawah Swimming Pool, a project valued at $4.2 million.
The tender includes the demolition of the existing pool, wading pool, and other structures, along with the construction of a new concrete-tiled 25-metre, eight-lane pool featuring a disability access ramp, balance tank, filtration plant, heating plant, and sanitation system.
The upgrade will also incorporate a new equipment room, driveway, new shade infrastructure, and stairway and ramp access to the gym.
“The tender from Murphy Builders QLD Pty Ltd, totaling $4.2 million, represented the best value for money,” said Cr Brieschke.
Council received $2.64 million from the Queensland Government through the 2024-27 South East Queensland Community Stimulus Program towards the project.
Cr Brieschke emphasized that the project was one step closer to becoming a reality.
“This upgrade is going to be a huge win for the Somerset community,” Cr Brieschke said.
Somerset Deputy Mayor Helen Brieschke mentioned that council had received four tender submissions and stressed the importance of getting the project right. "It’s an important project, and we want to get it right.”
