Supply battery database for emerging industry
The Queensland Government has launched Australia’s first Battery Supply Chain Database to help manufacturers capitalise on opportunities in the emerging battery industry.
The Queensland Government has launched Australia’s first Battery Supply Chain Database to help manufacturers capitalise on opportunities in the emerging battery industry. Developed in partnership with the Advanced Materials and Battery Council, the database is a key initiative under the Queensland Battery Industry Strategy.
Manufacturing Minister Glenn Butcher said the database would help battery technology companies identify business and supply chain opportunities, while also supporting manufacturers outside the sector in connecting with new customers and investors.
As global demand for battery storage is expected to increase tenfold by 2030, the database aims to position Queensland manufacturers at the forefront of the industry. State Development Minister Grace Grace highlighted its potential to create over 9,100 jobs and add $1.3 billion to the economy by 2032.
The database, hosted on the Industry Capability Network, allows businesses to list their products and services along the battery value chain. It is accessible at ICN Gateway.
