Students relish new playground at Mount Tarampa
STUDENTS at Mount Tarampa State School have enjoyed an array of new equipment in the playground since the middle of the year, due to funding from the Department of Education.
New swings, a new rocker, new mosaic tiles, an enlarged sandpit, new animals on the side fence, and new totem poles have been among the changes.
School principal Di Pedersen said the students loved the new-look playground, which had been well used since the changes were made.
“From the first day (of the new-look playground), there was standing room only in the sandpit,” she said.
“It’s a nice learning environment for them.”
With 56 students enrolled at Mount Tarampa State School this year, Mrs Pedersen said having a playground was important for the children in a number of ways.
“Mental health, and also developing their skills,” she said.
“There’s climbing, and there’s balancing.”
Mrs Pedersen also mentioned the new pathway, the dry creek bed and cubby house, as part of the overall setting.
“The flow of it all makes it a calm environment,” she said.
