Somerset road closures mount
Roads around the Somerset region continue to be closed, as floodwaters rise and new reports arrive, said Greame Lehmann, Mayor of Somerset Regional Council.
Cr Lehmann urged residents to reconsider all trips, and only use the road network for 'absolutely essential' travel.
"This is an ever-changing situation, and we are doing our best to stay on top, but reports are coming in constantly of roads going under," Cr Lehmann said.
"I would urge everyone, please, only go out if you absolutely have to, this is not the time to go sightseeing, and please, if it is flooded, forget it."
Cr Lehmann said the council is updating its road closures 'all the time', and said residents should check the online listing here for the latest closures.
"We want everyone to stay safe, and the best way to do that is limit our exposure to risk."
Anyone requiring assistance from the SES should call 132 500, or if it is an emergency, call 000.
