Simpsons fire for Caboolture cricket
CABOOLTURE’S Division 1 cricket team began 2022 in style with a 95-run drubbing of Coolum at Ron Cargill Oval last Saturday.

The visiting team amassed a total of 214 for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs, before the hosts were all out for 119 in 38.3 overs.
Jackson Simpson top-scored for Caboolture with a steady 68, while fellow opener Preston White made a quick 39.
Caboolture’s middle order faltered before David McKay, John Flew and Mitchell Lee made some useful runs.
Flew (1/11 from eight overs), McKay (0/8 from four overs), White (2/43 from 10 overs) and Toby Millyard (2/17 from six overs) bowled well for Caboolture, while the star was Carter Simpson with 5/17 from 5.3 overs.
Not enough runs in Division 2
A total of 140 proved insufficient for Caboolture in its Division 2 contest on home soil.
Christian Green’s innings of 57 was vital after the hosts were reeling at 4/30, with eight of Caboolture’s batters tallying only 30 runs.
Tewantin-Noosa’s first five batters made scores between 13 and 42, enabling the visitors to win by seven wickets in 29 overs.
Caboolture outgunned in Division 5
Sub-standard batting cost Caboolture dearly in the Division 5 match at the Caboolture Sports Cricket Club, as Maroochydore won by five wickets.
Maroochydore’s Greg Ebbott nabbed 4/24 while three of his team-mates took two wickets each, as the hosts were dismissed in the 34th over.
Chasing 99 for victory, the visitors progressed from 2/19 to 2/70 and then slipped to 5/70 before scoring the winning runs at the 30-over mark.
Caboolture defends total in Division 7
Caboolture compiled 193 runs for the loss of seven wickets at Cooroy Sportsground, before Cooroy-Eumundi Yellow was restricted to 9/160 in its allotted 40 overs.
The Cooroy-Eumundi Yellow bowlers delivered 39 wides and four no-balls, before Caboolture’s bowlers sent down 40 wides and 12 no-balls.
