Residents warned to prepare for flooding
Woodford and Kilcoy residents are being urged to prepare for flooding and possible isolation, if the D'Aguilar Highway is cut by rising floodwaters.
A Moreton Bay Regional Council spokesperson said the situation was 'evolving', and urged residents to stock up on food and water in case the D'Aguilar Highway is cut.
While the highway remains open, a number of local roads are already closed, including Rasmussen Rd, which is cut in two places, Wiseman Rd at Delaneys Creek and a number of local roads in the Woodford area.
The council spokesperson said while more local rain is forecast today, the big threat is rain falling in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, which is now flowing down the Stanley River towards Woodford and Kilcoy.
Evacuation centres are also being prepared in the Woodford area, in case residents or travellers are cut off by flooded roads.
With increasing numbers of trucks and caravans using the D'Aguilar Highway on a daily basis, a closure of the highway could see them forced to wait in either Kilcoy or Woodford until the road reopens.
