Reclink celebrates construction graduates
SEVEN Caboolture students are now ready to make the leap into the workforce after obtaining a Certification I in Construction through the Reclink program.
Graduates included Gary Smith, Gemma Saillard, Hayden Gapper, Jayden Hills, Jessica McDonald, Holly Roberts-Hall and Michael Quinn.
After completing their 21-week traineeship, graduates not only received a certificate of completion, but also a “new lease on life”.
Acting State Manager of Reclink Rebecca Green said the program helps disadvantaged individuals to identify a career pathway and undertake training to obtain the required skills.
By collaborating with local employers, Reclink Caboolture can then help trainees to find work.
Reclink Caboolture project coordinator Vanessa Pedro said it is “not about finding a job, it’s about finding something your passionate about.”
Vanessa said she was proud to see seven students graduate and have their efforts recognised at the graduation ceremony on Friday December 16.
“They are amazing,” Vanessa said.
“We just want the best for them.”
Of the seven graduates, three have already secured work and others have decided to pursue further studies.
In 2022, Reclink Caboolture had 19 students enrolled and studying either a Certificate I in Construction or Conservation and Ecosystems Management.
Rebecca said that after receiving additional funding from the State Government Skilling Queenslanders for Work Initiative, Reclink Caboolture will be able to facilitate two construction groups and one conservation group in 2023.
With 12 spots available in each group, Reclink are set to start recruitment in January for 2023 intakes.
Reclink Australia aims to improve the health, wellbeing, education and employment outcomes for young people without work experience, parents re-entering the workforce, culturally diverse and disabled individuals.
