Queenslanders to Benefit from $129 Million Boost to Ambulance Services

Premier Steven Miles has announced a $129 million funding boost for Queensland’s ambulance services as part of the upcoming state budget.

Premier Steven Miles has announced a $129 million funding boost for Queensland’s ambulance services as part of the upcoming state budget. This investment will increase the number of Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) positions, ensuring world-class emergency healthcare for all Queenslanders, no matter where they live.

The funding will see the recruitment of 268 new ambulance staff across the state, with 188 of these positions to be filled later this year. A significant portion of these new roles will be placed in regional and remote areas, bolstering ambulance services where demand is high.

Additionally, 80 positions will be dedicated to specialist roles that focus on innovative models within the QAS. These include positions supporting the QAS Clinical Hub and the Falls Co-Responder model, both of which have shown positive impacts on patient outcomes and demand management.

The March Quarter saw a record-breaking number of Code 1 incidents attended by QAS, highlighting the critical need for these additional resources. The funding will support Queensland’s ambulance services, ensuring they remain the best and busiest in the country while continuing to deliver life-saving services to the community.
