Police continue investigation into child's suspicious death
A man has been charged with murder following investigations into the death of a 16-month-old boy from Burpengary last month.
The 33-year-old man is scheduled to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday on one count of murder (Domestic Violence Offence).
Paramedics were called to an address on Staaten Street at 2.40pm, December 30, 2021 in relation to the medical welfare of a child.
The toddler was transported to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a critical condition. He passed away in hospital on January 8, 2022, with the cause of death still to be determined.
An investigation was subsequently launched by Pine Rivers Child Protection Investigation Unit in conjunction with Child Trauma Unit and Homicide Investigation Unit to establish the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or concerning behaviour in the vicinity of Staaten Street involving a male child in the lead up to Thursday, December 30, 2021 are urged to come forward.
Witnesses who may be able to provide any relevant images or footage are also encouraged to contact police.
