Moreton fire station receives two new trucks

The newly established Moreton Bay Central Fire and Rescue Station has received a significant boost with the addition of two new fire trucks worth a combined $1.9 million.

The newly established Moreton Bay Central Fire and Rescue Station has received a significant boost with the addition of two new fire trucks worth a combined $1.9 million.

The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) officially took delivery of a 9000-litre Urban Water Tanker (UTank) and a Type 3 Urban Pumper today, enhancing emergency response capabilities in the fast-growing region.

The $1.1 million Type 3 Urban Pumper, one of the most commonly used fire trucks in Queensland, features a 1500-litre water tank, a 4500 litres-per-minute pump, and a foam injection system.

The 9000-litre UTank is equipped with a state-of-the-art Compressed Air Foam System, a removable bumper monitor, and a 3000-litre portable dam.

It also features a cabin halo system that sprays water around the truck to protect firefighters in the event of a burn over.

The vehicles will support the $6 million Moreton Bay Central Fire and Rescue Station, which opened in February and is strategically positioned near the Bruce Highway to complement neighbouring Petrie and Burpengary stations.

Fire and Disaster Recovery Minister Nikki Boyd said the investment reflects the Queensland Government’s commitment to firefighter safety and community protection. QFD Commissioner Steve Smith highlighted the trucks’ role in responding to incidents such as structure fires, road crash rescues, and hazardous materials emergencies.

Local MP Chris Whiting noted that Moreton Bay Central firefighters responded to over 750 incidents in the past financial year, with traffic crashes and structure fires accounting for nearly 40% of callouts.

The delivery forms part of a broader $1.1 billion investment in the Queensland Fire Department, which includes $37.3 million for fire station upgrades and $13.1 million for Rural Fire Service Queensland facilities.
