Marching on for veterans

YEAR 10 student Tayvian Marden-Ryle from Tullawong will be walking 96km this month to support and raise funds for Soldier On’s life changing mental health services and programs for veterans.

In addition to walking 96km, Tayvian will also be helping people out with odd jobs to try and raise some extra funds for veterans throughout March.

The Kokoda Track is known as one of the most important battles for Australians in the Second World War.

The men who defended the rugged 96km track were the only line of defence protecting Australia from invasion.

The March On Challenge allows participants to take on their own virtual 96km track throughout March to support returning ADF members and their families.

Tayvian said he decided to get involved because his grandad is a veteran and he also has a couple of friends who served in the Vietnam War.

Less than a week into the challenge, Tayvian had already conquered 30km and raised more than half of his $800 goal.

To raise extra funds, Tayvian is also offering to do odd jobs such as weeding, gardening and heavy lifting.

To support Tayvian and help him to raise money for veterans, people can donate by following the link below or can send him a message on Facebook for any odd job requests.
