Twenty-five Queensland artists and organisations have received more than $592,000 in funding to showcase their work to new audiences across Australia and internationally.
The Performing Arts Market Development Fund has supported 22 recipients to present at major events in the United States, Europe, the UK, and Australia. Meanwhile, visual artists from the Torres Strait, Cape York, and the Gold Coast have been funded to build industry connections in North America and Europe through the Visual Arts Market Development Fund.
Artists and groups benefiting from the investment include musicians such as Yaw Afoakwah, Zheani, and Asha Jefferies, who performed at SXSW in Austin, and jazz pianist Sean Foran, who attended Jazzahead in Germany. Torres Strait Islander artists showcased their work in the United States as part of an Indigenous art exhibition.
Minister for the Arts Leeanne Enoch said the funding aims to strengthen Queensland’s creative industry ahead of the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, ensuring local artists gain international exposure and sustainable career opportunities. Applications for further funding remain open.
