Large crowd packs Wamuran hall on Anzac Day
More than 900 people attended the Anzac Day service in Wamuran despite wet weather.
The weather proved too much for the outdoor electrics and barbecue, but nothing dampened the spirit of the commemoration as attendees packed the Wamuran hall.
Wamuran State School, Tullawong State School and Tullawong State High School were the schools that were represented, while school student Jay Hullah performed the bugle call.
The 103 Army Cadet Unit Burpengary was also involved in proceedings, and the guest speaker was retired command sergeant major (CSM) Joanne Aherne, who has extensive military experience.
Jade Plaistow undertook the role of master of ceremonies (MC), Rohen de Hayr recited the poem “Lest We Forget”, and Hunter de Hayr recited The Ode.
There was the usual laying of the wreaths, and the playing of The Last Post.
The Wamuran Rural Fire Brigade prepared a gunfire breakfast, and afterwards Noel McEwan unveiled a plaque which commemorated the dedication of ‘Lone Pine’ garden.
