Kilcoy State School stages U8s day
Kilcoy State School was a lively place to be as the school staged its annual Under 8s day on Friday, June 16.
Children from Mount Kilcoy State School, NCC Early Learners Kilcoy, Play2Learn Kilcoy and private day care joined in with the children from the host school for the fun and festivities.
Many parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts also came along, as did members of the Police Service, State Emergency Service, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, Queensland Ambulance Service, Rural Fire Brigade, Surf Life Saving Queensland, and Kilcoy Gymnastics Club.
Activities included emergency services, jumping equipment, parachute play, giant jenga blocks, colouring, threading, painting, face painting, and plenty of other arts and crafts.
Badminton was another recreational activity.
The children had fun as they rotated among the various activities, and proceedings ran smoothly amid commendable behaviour all-round.
Kilcoy State School principal Belinda Nash said the day was a big success and overwhelmingly positive.
“This is a day of learning through play in an age appropriate manner,” she said.
Mrs Nash said the event built on the corresponding event from a year earlier, with this year’s event being “bigger and better” while the host school had developed a close relationship with the other local learning institutions.
“It’s about bringing all of our community together, not just the schools,” she said.
Mrs Nash thanked everyone who contributed to the Under 8s day, saying a lot of work was done behind the scenes to make the day a success.
