Kilcoy State School hosts U8s day
KILCOY State School was a lively place to be as the school staged an Under 8s day on Friday, June 17.
Children from Mt Kilcoy State School, NCC Early Learners Kilcoy, Play2Learn Kilcoy and private day care joined in with the children from the host school for the fun and festivities.
Many parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts also came along, as did members of the Police Service, State Emergency Service, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, Queensland Ambulance Service, Rural Fire Brigade, Kilcoy Gymnastics Club, and Woodford Scout Group.
Activities included emergency services, jumping equipment, slime, parachute play, giant jenga blocks, play-doh, colouring, threading, painting, and plenty of other arts and crafts.
Kilcoy State School acting principal Belinda Nash said the day was a big success and overwhelmingly positive.
“It’s the biggest day we’ve had for a long time,” she said.
“This is a day of learning through play in an age appropriate manner.
“The significance of this day is also about making the school a welcoming place.”
Mrs Nash said the day provided a good chance for teachers to meet the parents and build a rapport.
“It’s a community effort to educate a child,” she said.
Mrs Nash thanked everyone who contributed to the Under 8s day, saying a lot of work was done behind the scenes to make the day a success.
