Kilcoy Lions close off a great year
Kilcoy Lions Club members are celebrating a significant improvement in their fundraising operations, thanks to a generous community grant and a local contractor’s support.

For some time, the Lions have faced challenges with their trailer, which is crucial for transporting fundraising equipment to events.
Since its purchase, the trailer had to be stored at a member’s shed outside of town, due to the steep, grassy slope at the club, making it impossible to back the trailer to be loaded and unloaded.
However, a recent boost from the Somerset Regional Council’s Community Grant program has made all the difference, with the funding allowing the Lions to install a concrete slab, allowing the trailer to be easily backed up and unloaded for upcoming events. A local contractor was enlisted to pour the slab, and the new setup has already been put to good use.
With the trailer now housed in their ‘den’, they can efficiently clean and organise their equipment, setting the stage for future fundraising efforts.
Lions members also celebrated a recent meeting with a special visit from Narelle Gluer, Vice District Governor from Crows Nest.
During the visit, Lion David Dunn was honoured with a Distinguished Service Award for his outstanding commitment to the Lions’ Yowie Markets, which are held every second and last Saturday of the month.
Mr Dunn’s dedication to the success of the markets has been invaluable to the club and the community.
The Lions also welcomed a new member, Leigh McCreedy, who is eager to pitch in and assist wherever needed.
The Kilcoy Lions wish the community a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
