Joint premiers crowned in U15 Junior Rugby League Division 2
The Stanley River Wolves and Beachmere Pelicans were forced to share premiership honours in the U15 Boys Division 2 after drawing 22-all on junior rugby league grand final day in Caboolture.
This extraordinary game began at 2.20pm and concluded at 5.13pm, and involved a first-half stoppage of more than an hour as a Beachmere player sustained a worrying spinal injury which required ambulance attention.
Beachmere also had a player sent off during the first half, with Stanley River eventually gaining a 16-10 half-time lead and later moving ahead 22-12.
But despite having the benefit of one more player on the field than their opponents, the Wolves were unable to close the game out.
The score was deadlocked at full-time, and remained unchanged after 10 minutes of extra time, with a field goal attempt from Beachmere hitting the crossbar in the final 25 seconds.
