The Queensland Government’s $350 million fund to accelerate housing development has attracted over 220 applications in just two weeks, potentially delivering more than 12,000 new homes and 4,000 lots.

Part of the Homes for Queenslanders plan, the fund covers infrastructure charges and development application fees for projects near public transport, schools, and jobs. More than 60 per cent of applications are for developments that already have approvals and could be fast-tracked.

The fund aims to reduce costs for homebuyers, support housing diversity, and improve affordability. Applications span a range of housing types across the state, from the Gold Coast to Cooktown. Unallocated funds from unsuccessful applications will be released in future rounds.

Housing Minister Meaghan Scanlon said the initiative is helping unlock underutilised land and bring forward shovel-ready projects, responding to industry calls for support. The fund is one of several measures in the Homes for Queenslanders plan aimed at increasing supply and affordability.
