Grants to support local sport clubs
THE State Government is delivering urgent financial support to sport and recreation organisations impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
Not-for-profit organizations in disaster-declared areas can apply for grants of up to $5000 to assist with clean-up efforts. Approximately 5000 clubs across South East Queensland have been affected, with assessments currently underway to determine the extent of the damage.
Additional financial assistance will be considered once assessments are complete to ensure that clubs can resume operations as soon as possible. Minister for Sport, Tim Mander, encouraged eligible clubs to apply for help through the Disaster Recovery Program.
“These grants offer financial assistance to help with those recovery efforts,” Mr. Mander said. “We also thank the volunteers who are working incredibly hard to get these clubs back up and running.”
