Future Bright for Queensland’s Year 12 Graduates
Queensland’s Year 12 students are celebrating today after receiving their final results from the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA).
A total of 55,469 students received their Year 12 results, with 95% achieving a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) or Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA).
Minister for Education John-Paul Langbroek congratulated the graduates, highlighting their hard work and the bright futures ahead of them. “You have worked hard, applied yourself, and now the world is open to you,” Minister Langbroek said.
As part of the celebrations, the QCE Achievement Awards were announced to recognise the exceptional achievements of the top 0.06% of Year 12 graduates in 2024. Thirty-eight students were awarded in various categories, including Distinguished Academic Achievers, Outstanding Academic Achiever, and Highest Achievement in STEM and the Humanities.
In addition, 1,678 students received Certificates of Academic Commendation for achieving an A grade in at least six General subjects, while 720 students earned Subject Achievement Commendations for the highest result in at least one General subject.
The QCE provides a diverse range of pathways for senior students, catering to academic ability, work ethic, and ambition, according to QCAA CEO Jacqueline Wilton. She also expressed gratitude to teachers and principals for their role in shaping the students’ educational experiences.
The annual QCE Achievement Awards ceremony will take place on February 15, 2025, at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, sponsored by Griffith University, The University of Queensland, and the University of Southern Queensland.
