More than $2.6 million is available for businesses and researchers to develop new mining technology in Queensland, as the state government seeks to advance the sector’s role in the global shift to cleaner energy.
The Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS) Collaborative Project Fund offers grants of $50,000 to $300,000 for projects addressing environmental issues, emissions management, renewable energy, and safety.
Queensland’s METS sector contributes $7 billion in revenue and supports 26,700 jobs, with demand expected to grow as the world pursues net zero emissions by 2050. The funding forms part of the Queensland Government’s METS 10-Year Roadmap and Action Plan, which has already helped companies secure $24 million in sales and capital investment.
Applications close on 17 May.
