Footwork shines at nationals
Students from the Morayfield based dance studio, Footworks Dance, have achieved great placements during this year’s Australian Teachers of Dance (ATOD) National Championship on July 19 to 21.
The dance studio got to send nine of their students to Adelaide to participate in the national championship, following their impressive performance at the State Championships earlier this year.
Charlotte Celere (second in Sub Junior Hip Hop), Esther Jimmy (fourth in Junior Hip Hop) and Taylor Osborne (fourth in Senior Jazz) each placed in the ATOD National Championship while representing Queensland and their dance studio.
Over 60 competitors from across the country participated in the three-day-long event, demonstrating the best Australia has to offer in dance performance.
Footworks Dance Studio principal and director Elizabeth Barritt said that she was super proud of her students’ accomplishments during the championship.
“I was so impressed with all my students. The ones who made it this far, as there were many hoops to jump through to get to this level and then to place was amazing,” she said.
“This was a very exciting new city to visit with most students never having been there before.
“To place was an absolute thrill as this was the best of the best from each state.”
The dance studio is now eyeing the 2025 championship and hoping to fulfill more of their student’s dreams of competing at a national level.
Congrats to all competitors for their amazing efforts!
