Follow-up Damage Assessments Begin for Summer Disaster Recovery
Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) officers will conduct follow-up damage assessments on properties affected by summer disasters, with inspections set for 15-19 April and 29 April-3 May
Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) officers will conduct follow-up damage assessments on properties affected by summer disasters, with inspections set for 15-19 April and 29 April-3 May. The Damage Assessment and Reconstruction Monitoring (DARM) operation will assess 2,975 properties across affected areas from Cook Shire to the Gold Coast and Western Downs.
DARM audits track recovery progress, identify ongoing issues, and ensure residents receive necessary support. QRA officers will gather information on property damage, repair status, insurance claims, and access to financial assistance.
The assessments follow more than 10,000 rapid evaluations carried out after cyclones Jasper and Kirrily and the SEQ storms. QRA CEO Major General Jake Ellwood (Retd) said the data collected will help direct aid where it’s most needed and improve future disaster response.
So far, more than $72 million in hardship grants and $120 million in exceptional circumstances funding have been provided by the Queensland and Australian Governments. The DARM operation is the next step in ongoing recovery efforts to ensure no impacted residents are overlooked.
