Flood warnings for regional rivers
PREDICTIONS of more rain across the weekend have prompted warnings of potential flooding in Somerset and Moreton Bay regions.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) issued an initial flood watch on Thursday afternoon, saying catchment areas were 'saturated from heavy rainfall' and were 'likely to respond quickly' if any further rain fell.
While the heaviest rainfall is expected in coastal parts, there are concerns minor flooding is possible in Moreton Bay and Somerset.
The BoM said this flooding could lead to 'localised transport disruption', as well as flooding in low lying areas, close to rivers and creeks.
The areas of concern include the Pine and Caboolture Rivers, as well as the Upper Brisbane River.
The next Flood Watch is expected to be issued by 2pm on Friday, May 20.
Motorists and residents are urged to heed the 'If it is flooded, forget it' warnings and not try to cross floodwaters.
