Expanded Fitness Passport Program for Education Staff Across Queensland
All Department of Education staff, including teachers, principals, teacher aides, office staff, and cleaners, along with their families, can now access the popular Fitness Passport health and wellbeing initiative.
All Department of Education staff, including teachers, principals, teacher aides, office staff, and cleaners, along with their families, can now access the popular Fitness Passport health and wellbeing initiative.
This program, which offers discounted access to a wide range of fitness facilities close to home and work, has been a hit on the Gold Coast and in the Scenic Rim, with over 3,490 members already participating since 2018.
A new agreement between the Queensland Education Department and Fitness Passport means that staff and their families across the state can now join the program. Unlike traditional gym memberships that typically provide access to just one facility, Fitness Passport members can enjoy discounted access to a network of gyms and fitness centres, with savings of up to 50%.
The program supports the Department of Education's Staff Wellbeing Framework and aligns with the Queensland Government’s broader community health objectives. It complements other existing health and wellbeing initiatives for staff, including access to a fitness app and online resources.
Education Minister Di Farmer said, “Exercise is a great way to stay healthy and happy. This expanded access to Fitness Passport will help our staff improve their physical wellbeing, while showing our ongoing commitment to supporting them in their roles.”
The initiative provides a cost-effective way for education staff and their families to enhance their physical, psychological, and social wellbeing.
