Council levies increase
WITH the 2022-2023 Budget in place, a number of standing levies will also increase from July 1.
Among those set to rise are the Environment Levy, the State Emergency Service (SES) Levy, and the Rural Fire Brigade Levy.
Each of the levies are charged to fund operation of the different services, with the council responsible for the operation of the SES units in the region, as well as making a bulk payment for all Rural Fire Brigades in Somerset.
For the new financial year, the Environment Levy, which is set to finance the council’s pest management programs, will be $41.50 per property.
For the SES Levy, the charge will be $28 per property, with the Rural Fire Levy set at $41 per property outside any designated ‘Urban Fire Area’.
None of these charges are eligible for a prompt payment discount.
