Celebrating beef
HUNDREDS of guests flocked to the Toogoolawah Showgrounds on Saturday, March 29, to indulge in a night celebrating local beef producers at the second annual Legends of Beef.

The sold-out event saw hundreds of cattle producers and foodies come together to enjoy local beef cooked to perfection by world-class chefs Jason Peppler and Will Cowper.
According to Kent Saddlery, the evening raised nearly $10,000 for Toogoolawah State High School’s agricultural program, which empowers students for a bright future in the industry. High school students also worked as servers for the night.
Funds were raised through an auction of two Kent Saddlery items and a painting from local artist Susan McConnel.
The event featured a four-course nose-to-tail beef feast, followed by panna cotta for dessert, but the highlight was the stories of local beef producers – some of whom are in their sixth generation of Somerset beef production – showcasing their resilience and creativity.
Event organiser Duncan Brown said Legends of Beef is “a chance for people passionate about this great industry to gather, feast, and pay tribute to the pioneers and legends who have made this industry the enduring success it is.”
“The documentaries aired exclusively on the night are stunning – Yellowstone in your own backyard,” he said.
Legends of Beef is hosted by Brisbane Valley Farm Direct and is supported by Somerset Regional Council.
