Burpengary dismisses Palmwoods for 33
BURPENGARY demolished Palmwoods in Division 3 cricket last Saturday while Burpengary’s Division 5 team copped a hiding.
At the Palmwoods venue known as The Woods, the hosts were shot out for 33 in 19.3 overs after being sent in to bat.
Steele Draper (4/7 in eight overs) and Luke Wilmot (4/10 in 4.3 overs) destroyed the local line-up while Lachlan Smith (1/5 in two overs) and Rhys Nickalls (1/10 in five overs) chipped in.
Six Palmwoods batters failed to score, while the top score was nine sundries.
Burpengary lost two wickets with the total on nine, before opener Stephen Helliwell’s 24 not out helped the visitors to an eight-wicket win in the 10th over.
In the Division 5 contest at USC Oval, the hosts were tottering at 3/24 before an unbeaten century from Km Laher set up a total of 6/188 in 40 overs.
Brett Lethborg (2/22) and Guy Potter (2/23) were the pick of Burpengary’s bowlers, before the visiting team succumbed for just 53 in 25.5 overs.
Lethborg (12) and Corey Potter (11) were the only Burpengary batters to reach double figures, while there were 14 sundries.
Sean Lucas (4/7 in 4.5 overs), William Brown (3/7 in eight overs) and Fletcher Ward (2/8 in six overs) wrecked Burpengary’s line-up, while Will Zillmann had 1/27 in six overs.

U13 Burns: The Lakes Blue Cricket Club 3/69 (B Esson 2/10) lost to Burpengary 4/104 (B Esson 61 not out).
