Boost for art and cultural experiences across state

The Queensland Government is investing almost $1.2 million to support more than 750 high-quality arts and cultural performances across the state, from Cairns to Warwick.

The Queensland Government is investing almost $1.2 million to support more than 750 high-quality arts and cultural performances across the state, from Cairns to Warwick.

This funding is part of the Touring Queensland Fund, which aims to bring diverse arts experiences to Queenslanders, reaching an estimated 80,000 people.

The funding will support a variety of performances, including live music, theatre, visual arts, and comedy shows, providing Queenslanders with new opportunities to engage with arts and culture in their communities.

Nine artists and companies have been awarded funding to tour their work, including the whip-cracking comedy duo The CrackUp Sisters, who will bring their outback stories to towns such as Augathella, Yeppoon, and Birdsville.

THAT Production Company will receive $100,000 to tour its acclaimed comedy, Every Brilliant Thing, to regional Queensland, including Longreach, Winton, Mount Isa, and Blackall.

Red Chair, a performing arts and events producer, has been awarded almost $300,000 in multi-year funding to expand its regional touring program, presenting 16 independent Queensland music acts across various regional communities.

Minister for Education and the Arts, John-Paul Langbroek, said the funding would connect Queenslanders to vibrant arts experiences, no matter where they live. “This investment supports our talented artists and boosts regional economies by providing more entertainment opportunities and career development for local performers.”

The funding will activate regional venues, offer workshops, and provide mentoring opportunities, ensuring a lasting impact on the state's arts scene.
