Battery Booster Program Expanded to Help More Queensland Households
The Miles Government has announced an additional $6 million for its Battery Booster program, increasing the total funding to $16 million to help more Queensland households cut their power bills.
The expanded program will allow around 1,000 more households to receive rebates for installing solar battery systems.
Eligible homeowners with a solar PV system of at least 5kW can access rebates of $3,000 to $4,000, depending on income. Households earning under $66,667 annually will receive the maximum rebate, while those earning up to $180,000 can claim $3,000. More than 1,400 households have already been conditionally approved, with over half from low-income groups.
The Battery Booster program follows the now-finalised Climate Smart Energy Savers initiative, which helped over 72,700 households upgrade to energy-efficient appliances. That program, which doubled in funding to $44 million, is expected to save Queenslanders more than $7 million in power bills annually.
The Miles Government says these initiatives are part of broader efforts to ease cost-of-living pressures while encouraging clean energy adoption.
