Appointment of new state DGs
The Crisafulli Government has announced the appointment of 10 new Directors-General, with 12 others continuing in their current roles, following the swearing-in of the new Cabinet.
The Crisafulli Government has announced the appointment of 10 new Directors-General, with 12 others continuing in their current roles, following the swearing-in of the new Cabinet. The appointments aim to balance experience with fresh leadership to support the government’s vision of a “Fresh Start” for Queensland.
Key appointments include John Sosso as Director-General of the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, and Dr David Rosengren as Director-General of Queensland Health. Trish O’Callaghan will serve as Acting Director-General of the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation until November 11.
Several other acting roles have been filled temporarily, including David Mackie as Acting Director-General of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, Rachel Crossland as Acting Director-General of Queensland Treasury, and Sharon Schimming as Acting Director-General of the Department of Education.
Other acting appointments include Kathy Parton (Department of Women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Multiculturalism), Ben Klaassen (Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation), Rob Seiler (Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety), and Steven Koch (Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business).
A number of Directors-General will retain their positions, including Peter McKay (Department of Finance, Trade, Employment and Training), Graham Fraine (Department of Natural Resources and Mines), and Stephan Gollschewski (Queensland Police Service).
Premier Crisafulli expressed gratitude to outgoing Directors-General, highlighting the government’s goal to combine continuity and new energy to drive progress for the state. Further appointments will be made in the coming weeks in consultation with ministers.
