Airtrain ticket prices halved

The Miles Government is cutting Airtrain ticket prices in half, offering significant savings to Queensland commuters as part of a broader cost-of-living relief initiative.

The Miles Government is cutting Airtrain ticket prices in half, offering significant savings to Queensland commuters as part of a broader cost-of-living relief initiative. Starting 5 August 2024, half-price tickets for Airtrain services to Brisbane Airport will be available for a six-month trial period, making it more affordable for Queenslanders to travel to and from the airport.

Ticket prices will be reduced from $21.90 to $10.95 for go card and EMV users and $11 for paper tickets, providing a substantial saving for passengers. This move is part of the Queensland Government's wider initiative to reduce transport costs, with the government also introducing 50-cent fares on all Translink services across the state starting the same day.

The reduction in Airtrain fares is expected to encourage more people to use public transport, reducing road congestion and easing pressure on the road network. With the new pricing, commuters can travel from locations such as the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast to the airport for as little as $11.50.

In addition, the price of worker tickets will also drop significantly. The weekly worker ticket will be reduced from $43 to $21.50, and a book of 20 tickets will cost just $60, down from $120.
