A lightning netball game
Eight Moreton Bay primary schools took part in Unitywater’s Lightning Cup on Friday, August 23.
This included:
Banksia Beach State School (Bribie Island)
St Eugene College (Burpengary)
St Peters Catholic Primary School (Caboolture)
Morayfield East State School
Deception Bay North State School
Christ the King Catholic Primary School (Deception Bay)
Mueller College (Rothwell)
Southern Cross Catholic College (Scarborough)
The primary school-based netball competition and carnival event saw 76 teams (532 students) from 45 schools across the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay, Noosa and Gympie regions competing for one of the three trophies up for grabs – Lightning (championship), Storm (boys) and Thunder (development).
Deception Bay North SS was the only Moreton Bay team to have a Storm team along with their Thunder team, while Banksia SS, St Eugene College, Mueller College, and Southern Cross Catholic College had Lightning and Thunder teams.
The other three schools only had a Thunder team.
The students also had a chance to meet players of the Sunshine Coast Lightning netball team, who put on the event with Unitywater.
While none of the teams won a trophy, we congratulate all kids for playing!
